Her mom, Billie Joann, is an import-convey administrator, and her dad, Emilio Luis Diaz (1949–2008), worked for the California oil association UNOCAL for more than 20 years as a field gauger. Cameron Diaz has a more settled sister, Chimene. Her dad's family was of Cuban drop, and settled in Tampa's Ybor City, later moving to California, where Emilio was conceived.
