Cameron Diaz was born in San Diego, California. Her mom, Billie Joann, is an import-convey administrator, and her dad, Emilio Luis Diaz (1949–2008), worked for the California oil association UNOCAL for more than 20 years as a field gauger. Cameron Diaz has a more settled sister, Chimene. Her dad's family was of Cuban drop, and settled in Tampa's Ybor City, later moving to California, where Emilio was conceived. Her mom has English, German, and Cherokee heritage. Cameron Diaz was raised in Long Beach, California, and went to Long Beach Polytechnic High Schoo.
